NASA's James Webb Telescope has potentially captured images of the first-ever "dark stars," stars powered by dark matter. Astrophysicists from The University of Texas at Austin and Colgate University analyzed data from the telescope and identified three bright objects that could be dark stars. If confirmed, these stars could provide insights into the nature of dark matter, a major unsolved mystery in physics. Dark matter, comprising about 25% of the universe, is believed to consist of a new type of elementary particle. The discovery of dark stars would be significant in advancing our understanding of this elusive cosmic phenomenon.
